IMI Sensors is a global supplier of high temperature condition monitoring instrumentation. Often used in demanding industrial environments, these vibration sensors provide critical data for the early detection of machinery failure.
Our high temperature ICP® accelerometers with internal electronics have the best temperature capability of any comparable design on the market today, with continuous operating temperatures of up to 325 °F (162 °C). For applications that exceed those temperatures, IMI Sensors offers a variety of charge mode accelerometers without internal amplifiers that can operate up to 1200 °F (649 °C).
Did you ever wonder how charge mode accelerometers convert physical motion into quantifiable electrical signals? At their core, these devices utilize precisely arranged sensing crystals, securely fastened to a seismic mass. The assembly is further stabilized by a preload ring or stud exerting just enough force to ensure the entire structure remains rigid and behaves linearly under various conditions. When subjected to acceleration, the seismic mass exerts pressure on the crystals, generating an electrical charge proportional to the force applied. This electrical output is captured by electrodes, transmitted through wires to an electrical connector, and ultimately linked to a low-noise cable to ensure clear and accurate signal relay.
UHT-12â„¢ is a new crystal designed to enhance accuracy and reduce noise during large temperature variations. UHT-12â„¢ technology effectively minimizes the impact of temperature variations, addressing the common issue of pyroelectric phenomenon. Such phenomena can lead to undesirable "spikes" in data, disrupting accelerometer performance and skewing test results. Accelerometers made with UHT-12â„¢ technology have improved data quality, and feature:
