Accelerometer Mounting Bases
PCB's mounting bases are specifically designed for PCB accelerometers, ensuring they will work properly and not damage the accelerometer.
The use of the adhesive mounting base prevents the adhesive from being in direct contact with the sensor and potentially clogging the sensor tapped mounting hole. An adhesive mounting base (when glued or epoxied) provides the proper stiffness required to get the highest frequency response possible for a given accelerometer. All bases are machined of lightweight aluminum with a grooved side for applying the adhesive and a hardcoat finish side which provides electrical isolation between the test object and the accelerometer.
The base is secured to the test object with a suitable adhesive such as epoxy, glue or wax. The accelerometer is then stud mounted to the other side of the adhesive mounting base and properly torqued to specification. Accelerometers may be easily moved to multiple bases installed at various locations. For proper mounting, match the hex size on the accelerometer to the hex size on the adhesive base. Use the next largest adhesive base hex size if a match is not available.

Magnetic accelerometer mounting bases are an ideal solution for organizations that need to collect periodic vibration data for trend analysis. Once the study or short-term temporary test is over, the magnet and sensor are easily removed and ready to be moved to a new location or machine.
PCB manufactures magnetic accelerometer mounting bases for flat, curved or uneven surfaces. For rotating machinery, the ideal magnetic mounting base is a two-rail base that can accommodate the curved surface of the bearing cap. A good rule of thumb is to choose a magnetic base with a larger diameter than the accelerometer base.
Care must always be taken when using a magnetic base, as a powerful magnet may produce a strong shock pulse damaging the accelerometer sensor. It is recommended, that the base be installed on one edge of the test object on one edge and then rolled gently into position. The magnetic base can also be installed before attaching the sensor.
