PCB Piezotronics Obtains International Accreditation for Test and Measurement Acoustic Products

April 13, 2012, Depew, NY - PCB Piezotronics, Inc., a global leader in the design and manufacture of microphones, vibration, force, torque, load, strain, and pressure sensors, as well as the pioneer of ICP® technology; is pleased to announce that they have been accredited by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA), a signatory to the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA). The ILAC MRA promotes international acceptance of calibration service reports.

"ILAC recognition of our A2LA accreditation means that our customers can have greater confidence in our products and their test results by virtue of the international acceptance of PCB's demonstrated compliance with the ISO/IEC 17025 standard," states Mark Valentino, product manager for PCB Piezotronics, "this also eliminates the need for retesting of products if they enter a new country."

In order for accreditation bodies to recognize each others' accreditations, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) developed requirements for accreditation bodies: ISO/IEC 17011. Accreditation bodies, such as A2LA, having a Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) with ILAC, agree to maintain conformity with the current version of 17011 and to regularly submit themselves and their own quality management systems to peer review.
