Vibration measurements on machines in paper production and processing increase their operational safety and improve production efficiency. The regular or permanent measurement and analysis of machine vibrations enable the detection of changes in machine condition, so that necessary maintenance work can be planned in advance in a cost-effective way. Rolling bearings are hard-working components in rotating production machines. Damage or total failure of these components reduces the quality of the product and causes additional costs. Among other things, the bearings are located in hot, wet or other hazardous areas that are only accessible to the maintenance and service technician to a limited extent. The vibration sensors from IMI Sensors, the industrial sensor division of PCB Piezotronics, are characterised by a double-walled, hermetically welded stainless steel housing, which on the one hand provides mechanical protection and on the other acts as a faraday cage that prevents electrical interference. The galvanic separation of the sensor element and the subsequent measuring chain from the sensor housing prevents ground loops and noise.
