Fastener Test Seminar Reconfirms RS Technologies as Industry Leader in Fastener Testing

Seminar held by RS Technologies sparked the interest of 21 companies who gained valuable training in fastener testing technologies.

July 16, 2013, Depew, N.Y. - PCB Load & Torque and RS Technologies hosted a fastener test seminar on June 25th, 26th and 27th at the company's Farmington Hills, Mich. location. Twenty-one different companies were represented by 47 people who came from as far as Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and California. Due the event's overwhelming success and positive attendee feedback, PCB is planning to add a fastener training seminar to next year's event calendar.

The seminar included an educational overview of fastener test topics such as the relative importance of torque, angle of turn, clamp load and friction in threaded fastener assemblies, the torque-tension relationship, how to calculate friction coefficients, and the four zones of the tightening curve that help understanding of what happens when a fastener is tightened. Following the presentation, attendees received hands-on demonstrations, a facility tour, and an open forum Q&A session led by the company's technical director and fastener test expert Ralph Shoberg.

According to PCB Load & Torque's Fastener Test Product Manager Dave Miller, "What stood out to me was the wide range of job responsibilities that were represented by the group. Attendees held roles such as test technician, engineer, senior management and sales. Fastener applications affect a very broad audience of companies that include fastener designers and manufacturers, coating developers, plating companies, tooling and assembly professionals, all people who design and manufacture fasteners, process them, sell them, or use them."

Overall this event was successful in bringing together a wide range of industry players such as OEMs, manufacturers of fastener products, and companies who manufacture coatings for fastener products. Attendees received a binder of training materials, a certificate of completion, and coupon for 10 percent off of a fastener test system purchase.
