PCB test sensors play a crucial role in monitoring the performance of EV powertrains, allowing engineers to identify potential issues and make necessary adjustments for optimal efficiency. By providing accurate and real-time data on key metrics, our sensors help enhance the overall performance and reliability of electric vehicles.
Efficiency gains are a major area where sensors shine. Our sensors allow engineers to fine-tune the powertrain's operation. This optimization leads to better energy use, which is crucial for enhancing the driving range of EVs. In a market where range anxiety is a real concern, the role of the right sensors in squeezing more miles out of each charge cannot be overstated.
Lastly, our test sensors support the development process itself. By providing detailed feedback on how a powertrain operates under various conditions, they guide engineers in making informed design choices. This iterative process of testing and refinement is what leads to the innovative and reliable EV powertrains we see today.
Reduce Electrical Noise & Ground Loops with PCB Test Sensors
PCB models 354B04 and 354B05 accelerometers are case isolated, reducing the noise cause by high magnetic fields. They utilize ceramic sensing elements in a shear arrangement, offering high output and low noise for excellent signal to noise ratio.
To minimize ground loop noise in EV powertrain development, PCB models HTJ356B01 and J356A03 are available with integral ground isolation. Isolation is accomplished with the addition of an external titanium shell adhered to the three mounting surfaces via high temperature, electrically non-conductive epoxy. These sensors are ideal for applications where minimal mass loading and size matters. HTJ356B01 is also suitable for higher temperature applications up to 356 °F (180 °C).
PCB's J356A4 series also help mitigate EMI by reducing electrical noise and ground loops. These hermetically sealed, ground isolated miniature/lightweight triaxial ICP® accelerometers are TEDS IEEE 1451.4 enabled and available in three sensitivities 10 mV/g (J356A43), 50 mV/g (J356A44), and 100 mV/g (J356A45).
For improved results with ground isolated sensors, use with Series 034T shield grounded cables available in 10ft (034T10), 20ft (034T20), and 30ft (034T30) lengths. Alternatively, PCB Series 010T stranded cable can be used for an extended vibration fatigue life. This cable is also available in 10ft (010T10), 20ft (010T20), and 30ft (010T30) lengths.
