August to October 2024 - The MaritimeMET consortium continues to connect with industry leaders to drive its project mission forward, presenting at the IMEKO World Congress 2024 in Hamburg. The congress, hosted by the International Metrology Confederation, gathers experts from over 50 countries to foster innovation and exchange in measurement science across 25 technical committees.
As part of the event, MaritimeMET showcased its project poster during the TC 20 session on Energy and Related Quantities. Consortium members, including Dr. Richard Högström of VTT-MIKES and Mr. Fredrik Arrhén of RISE (work package leader for Dynamic Pressure and Temperature Measurements), also participated in discussions organized by TC 16 on Pressure and Vacuum Measurement. A later session on dynamic pressure featured a vibrant exchange between metrology institutes and academic partners from South Korea (KRISS), Japan (AIST), Thailand (NIMT), and Slovenia (University of Ljubljana).
The IMEKO organizing team's goal to provide an "international interchange of scientific and technical information in the field of measurement and instrumentation" aligns with MaritimeMET's objective of global collaboration. The World Congress paved the way for potential partnerships, including discussions with PCB Piezotronics and the MaritimeMET consortium. Dr. Richard Högström, Dr. Zhechao Qu and Dr.-Ing Ajoy Ramalingam had the opportunity to explore shared interests in dynamic pressure sensor calibration with Mr. Mike Mains, product specialist in the Calibration Systems Team at The Modal Shop, Inc.
Dr. Eynas Amer, Mr. Fredrik Arrhén, Dr. Richard Högström (VTT-MIKES), Dr. Christophe Sarraf (LNE-ENSAM), Dr. Yasin Durgut (TUBITAK) along with the coordination team have initiated discussions with Mr. David Ort, R&D engineering manager at PCB Piezotronics, Inc. and The Modal Shop's Calibration Systems Team. They plan to continue exchanging information between the consortium partners, PCB, and The Modal Shop throughout the project phase.
