IMI Sensors Receives TR CU Certification for Pressure Sensors, Accelerometers, Vibration Switches, and Charge Amplifier

Sensors are approved for use in hazardous locations in Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus

April 30, 2014, DEPEW, NY – IMI Sensors, a division of PCB Piezotronics, Inc., announced the certification of its pressure, acceleration, and vibration product lines by TR CU – the Euro-Asian Council for Standardization, Metrology and Certification (EASC). TR CU refers to a set of technical standards maintained under the EASC and operating under the umbrella of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). TR CU Ex certification is required of instrumentation that will be used in Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus in potentially hazardous or explosive areas. The IMI sensors were approved for use in hazardous areas; such as petroleum refineries, utility gas plants, and oil drilling operations.

This certification has been applied to numerous IMI sensors:

• All series EX6xx Accelerometers
• Series EX357, 355, and 351 Accelerometers
• Series 102, 105, 175, and 176 Pressure Sensors
• Series EX686, 685 Vibration Switches
• Series EX682 Charge Amplifiers

The TR CU Compliance Certificate is issued by an independent accredited body through several laboratory quality tests of IMI’s product. This institution laboratory performs testing or ensures proper supporting documentation for all specifications that IMI Sensors has written. They verify this conformity for each model according to approved standard procedures already established for the specification.

This process ensures that each IMI Sensors model is made and performs to specification, guaranteeing that a quality product is being sold into the Russian, Kazakhstan or Belarus Markets. This is especially critical for applications where sensors must conform to strict codes for hazardous area environments in order to ensure the safety of people and assets around it.

A proper TR CU Certificate of Conformity is required for customs clearance, distribution and sales in Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus and often is requested at the time of shipment.
